Swiss Shopping Lists?!

Me and my colleague decided we need to brush up our cooking skills, so we set a day to try a new dish i.e. Mexican Fajita. So we did, and it tasted almost first rate at best! Then, to be more exciting, we made a double date, where we cooked for 2 LUCKY men. What indeed startled me was how Swiss made a shopping list before every meal?! We decided to cook and buy the ingredients together, but man, I could not stop snickering how cute my colleague wrote such a complete shopping list only for 1 meal, 1 day!! Not only the colleague of mine, but then I realised the entire shoppers especially in the fresh vegetables section did. They held a tiny piece of paper, and I knew it had to be it!! Yes of course my mum does it as well, but that's in general what to stock up and not to forget. But here, is really funny!! Mind me, but I still adore how rules-oriented and organized Swiss people could be. Switzerland is unique, but the people are even more!

Winter Blues..serious or not?

Yes...for the first time, I felt snow, I could elegantly slip on my mantel ( winter jacket ),keep myself warm in those kinky boots and caps but above all, this weather is killing my soul! I spend my weekends hardly doing anything, even weekdays, I head back home straight after work, or perhaps catching up with some friends is still exciting but not to some extend which I would hit the clubs or crave for students’ parties as my gusto before. I do not how much the weather really faze me but it is safe to say that I now feel how people go into depression in winter. Knowing it is very strange indeed.

However, for some reasons, it could also due to my friends. I prefer to spend good solid time together with people I understand, people whom I can relate to and feel all comfortable to be just myself all the time. That’s pretty much what I need now…even things changed up a bit, frankly, I am pleased with it.. and if you know me, yes..at least no complains!! :)

AIESEC DO-IT - Biggest in Schweiz

This was my first AIESEC conference in Switzerland and it was known as the biggest and most diversified to be in Switzerland. Yes, I agree..at least there were already the Swiss-German, Swiss-Italian and Swiss-French. And that was what particularly impressed me! Few times when they sang happy birthday song, they made in 3 versions - German, Italian and French. AIESEC is simply an incredible force. I was not much immersed with AIESEC cultural being as a trainee in this conference, but it did revive my good ol times of AIESEC craze and bond. Although being felt not so AIESECey this time, it was indeed still special and I certainly felt priviledged as there were no need to go through the whole 'who are we' and 'how we change the world' workshops. Hehe..Hey wait..guess what was the best part: I did not pay a single cent for the conference!! Can you believe that this conference was FREE for all?!! The food, accommodation, events, coffee breaks! No way huh?!! Never had I attended any free conference by AIESEC !! Not in Asia! Just what we did then? Very interesting - we explored the Alps; not intensively though but really breath-taking. Serene sights of mountains, little villages and pretty soft snow ( yes...SNOW !! ) were worth these 4 hours travelling. :) Well, check out the happenings as soon as I upload the photos in my album.
Simon, my roomate who simply stunned me with how much interest and knowledge he had for Malaysia, and Asia! Just when I introduced myself, that moment was 'wahnsinn' ( in English - crazy )!! I had terrific time talking to you. Wish we had more time huh?! Jangan lupa datang ke Malaysia! Truly Asia...

Breath-taking scenery..just outside the conference hall
Theme of party : Come as Doctors , Nurses , Patients or Psychos :p
The Tunak-tunak AIESEC dance!!
Me and Mournir ( close friend of mine in my LC Winterthur ), the rest behind..who the heck are you?!

Couple of Festivals in October

Let’s wrap up the month of October. I have been extremely lazy, so the most ‘enthusiastic’ thing I could do now is still keep my blog updated but only with snapshots. That at least you know I am still not finished with PARTY! :p
In October, as far as I could recall the highlights are :
1. Darja Move-Out Party ( only moving out but not farewell :p) – As whenever trainees are together, how can we forget our night booster! Lots of alcohol ( see us in action in pic ) and ‘catching up’ to do.
2. Octoberfest in Winterthur ( my former residential area ) – Originated from Munich, Germany but this one in Winterthur was just as good or even better. I must admit I was amazed with Swiss technology. The bench had some kind of spring that no matter how hard we jumped or danced on it, it was unbreakable, ever durable with any kind of force or weight. Crazy Party!! ( see pic - most people were dancing on the benches – very friendly atmosphere )

3. Olma Festival in St.Gallen – Made to exhibit Swiss-made items / machines / food / drinks / souvenirs / services / companies and simply anything you could relate to Switzerland. The most-awaited event was the pig-racing as seen in the photo. As horse-racing, these spectators place their bets and yeah…then just wait to see who win Duh! After 2 rounds, we got really bored. C’mon..How interesting could it be the watch pig ‘running’ aimlessly?!!
It was a great weekend though as I met Javi and some Eramus students ( exchange students ).
